El Gato Negro is my bookstore/coffeehouse/cafe in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. The majority of people reaching this page have Googled "El Gato Negro" hoping to find the store website Instead, you have found the photo album on my blog because the credit card expired for the automatic renewal of the website and we have been too lazy to do anything about it for three years and counting. Well, Rob has been too lazy to do anything about it, as technically that would be part of his job responsibilities. We are not on Facebook and if you read my blog, you all know why I hate Facebook. I am going even a step further by banning Facebook on my router at the store, as soon as I can get to Managua to buy a programmable router (or find the software for the current one). In lieu of a website, here a few factoids: Store hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Cash and gold bullion only. (We will barter if you can provide us with 100% Vermont maple syrup and/or maple candies and/or Haribo ORIGNAL Gummy Bears, Cabot Extra Sharp white cheddar cheese or fresh Bing cherries discreetly smuggled through Nicaraguan customs. We have fresh roasted coffee from our own organic farm (roasted in the cafe); raw cacao treats; vegetarian fare; killer Ruben sandwiches (when pastrami is available!); amazing books that will change your life (and El Gato Negro is NOT A BOOK EXCHANGE or a LIBRARY! -- a pet peeve of mine of you cannot tell); coconut french toast and banana chocolate chip muffins; organic baby green salad mix; Superfood smoothies (including a sex smoothie) that go beyond anything you have seen in the US, Europe or Canada; salmon and cream cheese bagels with capers; art and photography; hanging chars and a comfy couch; games, Tarot cards, and magazines to enjoy while you are eating; fresh coconut water (the coconuts are delivered in a wooden cart each morning); funky menu covers, including a sex menu cover featuring a playbill from the Vagina Monologues and a Dysfunctional Family Paper Doll set in with a cross-dressing dad and a mom with BDSM issues) - and yes, we have books on sex, too; an assortment of interesting humans and animals; and lots and lots of LOVE!
