We arrived in Ninh Binh at the same time a typhoon hit the coast. Although the weather wasn't always perfect, we managed to ride bicycles to Tam Coc (opting to avoid the tourist traps on the boats) and we rented motorcycles one day to explore the countryside. There were some roads that were impassable due to sever flooding. Our trip to the primate reserve was canceled because six feet of water had collected over the road.
