Playa Escamequita is my favorite horseback journey. We ride from Las Haciendas, ender the shade covered roads (except for the dry season!), crossing at the home of a poor family whom we tip for opening the gate. We continue to ride along the trail, engulfed in the cacophony of howls from the monkeys swinging in the trees above. The rusty windmill announces our proximity to the beach. Once on the sand, the horses race to the end. Unless my horse, Pablo, is having a slow day in which we wander to the end of the beach.
