A Simple Solution – Secession

A Simple Solution – Secession

By Kelly Ann Thomas

Note:  This originally started as a hopeless rant.  The solution came to mind as I wrote.  Please ignore the rambling beginning.

I do not understand how it is that the majority of Americans understand that their government is lying, stealing, torturing and killing in their name, and yet few people act on their convictions.  They continue to pay taxes, they continue to support the corrupt system, they continue to deploy to Iraq, and they allow fraudulent elections repeatedly.

There is no escaping the financial collapse of the US economy.  There is no solution to Iraq than immediate withdrawal.  The US infrastructure is ancient.  Our oil refineries are old, bridges and buildings are on the verge of collapse, and a few more hurricanes and earthquakes will be enough to shut down the economy.

We all say we want a peaceful revolution, but I don't see much revolution.  Protests don't work - they only give the Homeland Gestapo opportunity to photograph you and put your face in a database.  I don't think there are many people who refuse to pay taxes.  Not enough that it makes a difference.  The population continues to approve the local police budgets and policies.  They elect the corrupt judges.  They walk away from confrontation.  No hacker has ever shut down the DHS.  No officer has had the courage to arrest Bush and his accomplices for the war crimes and treason.  Look at the cowards Gore and Kerry.  I'm sorry, but if I spent two years of my life running for President, I would not walk away.  Hell, I would have walked right into the White House with We the People marching behind me and claimed it as mine.  Fuck fraudulent elections!  But it is obvious that pre-selected candidates Gore and Kerry had no desire to be at the helm of a sinking ship.  Congress did nothing to ensure honest elections after the Florida debacle.  Famous people won't speak out.  When accused of an unconstitutional crime, the celebrity claims victimization.  I don't see Wesley Snipes or Michael Moore addressing the Constitutional issues, be it the right to travel at will or the rights we have to our bodies and our labor.  They plead technicalities of the law. Plenty of celebrities said they would leave the US if Bush took office again in 2008.  Funny, none actually made the move, as I recall.  Everyone is afraid.

A friend suggested a general strike.  I don't think it will work, because too many people would be afraid to expose their beliefs to their boss, employer, neighbors, coworkers, family and friends.  Especially the work force.  With the economy sailing the way of the Titanic, most people cannot afford to lose their jobs.  It's like and episode of the Twilight Zone, where 1984 meets Brave New World, and Soviet-style communism collides with German fascism.  I think I hear Caesar calling.

And they have won.  It is 1984.  The tyrants have enslaved a population to such an extent that there is nary a peep.  All the underground talk about V for Vendetta, yet few have done anything to stop tyranny.  So, what happens now?

In my view, the only peaceful way to end this tyranny is if all the states secede from the US.  We alleviate ourselves from federal debt, localize the economies, and get rid of federal control.  No more Patriot Act, no more dismantling of habeas corpus, and no more bodies in Iraq.  Yes, some of the welfare states will be forced to actually contribute to their own welfare.  No more farm subsidies, no more handouts.  If I want to help someone, it is my choice.  The states can ally themselves regionally (which seems much more efficient given our shared utilities and resources) or not.  It's all about local control.  Sure, there would be a few horror stories along the way, but it's still better than citizen internment camps.

We don't need government to take care of us.  People wonder what would happen if Medicare and Social Security ended.  Medical care would get a whole lot cheaper and natural medicine would become mainstream.  By not spending half their income on taxes, people would have more money for their future.  If someone gambled it all away, snorted it up their nose, or lavished themselves with luxuries, that was his right - and his personal responsibility to handle the consequences.  If we were personally accountable for our actions, fewer people would engage in wasteful behavior.  Without government telling us how to spend our money, we could decide which charities or causes to support.  If I want to donate to help with someone's health costs, I will.  If I see George W. Bush passed out on the sidewalk, I have the right to not contribute to his recovery program.  At present, we are conditioned to demand the government solve our problems.  With bailout after bailout, it's easy to understand why the masses aren't worried.  The Knight in Shining Armor is at the gates of the fortress because Hollywood tells us it is so.

I was reading Rolling Stone today and saw a review of Live Earth (?). The Global Warming celebrities make me livid.  Not only is Global Warming merely a propaganda spiel, but the environmental footprint the concerts left behind is astounding.  I find it arrogant that a musician flying in a private jet is telling the rest of the world to use fluorescent lights. Sheryl Crow talks about using one piece of toilet paper (which is an impossibility) while she tours around in buses and planes.  Maybe she should only play acoustic and save wear and tare on the electrical grid. I really don't care what Bono, Sting or Sheryl Crow have to say about the concept of Global Warming, since all live in luxury homes, drive luxury cars, and spend copious amounts of money on non-essential goods.  I am not jealous of their money.  I am tired of their hypocrisy.
More than that, I am tired of people caring more about the Earth's temperature 100 years from now than the fate of humanity in the present moment.  The Middle East is a Depleted Uranium dust field.  Zionists and Christians are salivating over Armageddon.  Tens of millions are about to perish if Bush and his thugs unleash nuclear weapons on Iran.

I want to believe that humanity can save itself. I look at Rolling Stone and I am not sure if we can. Bush is about to unleash a nuclear war and no one seems to care. This is why I felt the need to leave the US. I just don’t believe enough people care. It’s easier to slap a global warming bumper sticker on your car than it is to stop a government from murdering its own.

Whether people like it or not, they must choose.  Support a nuclear war or do something. I wish I could do something to stop this madness.  No one person can do it.  If we don't work collectively now, we will all be working in Halliburton-built collectives much like the Soviet and German prisoners.

Israel has stated that the US has given a green light for a strike on Iran.  If people in every state demanded immediate secession – and demand that they vacationing legislators convene to put for the idea, then perhaps we can collectively stop the imminent destruction of our world.

People should demand a law for all elected politicians--You lie once--you die
The thing about each state on it's own-ain't going to fly--cause over 50% voted for Bush--same old crap.

I like 95% of what you wrote... I like that much of it VERY MUCH.

The other 5% finds me very embarrassed for you.

The 95% would be everything except your statement --

"Not only is Global Warming merely a propaganda spiel"

-- because the onl way to arrive at that conclusion is to ignore reams of valid scientific data. On what grounds do you call it "propaganda"? Are there any grounds? Do you just mistrust the scientists that support the evidence of global climate change? If so, on what basis do you mistrust them?

What do you know, you personally, regarding atmospheric chemistry and the way our atmosphere's chemistry affects how much heat passes through to reach us down here on the surface?

What do you know about scientific rigor, and the validity of testing hypotheses?

The only "evidence" I have seen that runs contrary to the FACT of global climate change is the occasional statement by a non-scientist that "things always have got hot, then cold, then hot... it's just a natural cycle."

Apocryphal anachronisms of the county wise man are not a substitute for rigorous scientific examination.

How can you be so solidly rational in your skepticism on every other subject in your essay, and then completely miss the mark on the issue of global climate change?

I would agree with you when you talk about the hypocrisy of those you would call "celebrities." The solution there is to ignore them. I would also agree if you argued that Al Gore is a hypocrite -- not because global climate change is a lie, but because Al Gore has one of the biggest environmental footprints of any American, he's definitely in the top 5% there. He wants the rest of us to follow his suggested sacrifices so that he won't have to make any sacrifices of his own.

But in the end, I would wonder what makes you staunchly against the idea of global climate change, and the idea of trying to prevent a lethal change -- especially where it is preventable, at least partly.

Whether or not one believes the existence of 'global warming' is not the issue. It IS being used for propaganda. Those "reams of valid scientific data" also indicate that, historically, global warming has PRECEDED carbon dioxide increases by a few hundred years. In other words, if carbon dioxide levels have dramatically increased, it is BECAUSE of global warming, not the other way around. Those "reams" should also tell you that just one large volcanic eruption (remember Mt. Pintatubo?) spews more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than all of humanity since the beginning of time.

Regardless, those who insist that global warming is caused by human industry always want some sort socialistic government (the U.N., maybe?) to eliminate the liberties of the 'haves', to the benefit of the 'have-nots'.

While I'm all for keeping our environment clean, governments cannot make that happen, since government is the largest polluter and destroyer of the environment that there is.

I agree that secession is the only thing that can save this former republic. The federal government has usurped so much power over the states (in violation of our Constitution) that the states can never recover it. May more people become enlightened of this fact before it's too late!!

Slow down bud. Being the smart guy you
are you must have come across some "scientific"
views, data which does not conform to
the Al Gore "I got my family fortune from Occidental Oil" global warming school of thought. I haven't the time nor the motivation to run through the compelling evidence that
the current global warming trend is natural in course - being as impassioned as you are -
one would hope that you will do your own research, especially if your going to spew
the patronizing, - this is how you spell science - swill you did above. Given the
political posturing, the immense amount of
resources, media - hysteria being brought to
bear upon the global warming issue - by the very freaking people who supposedly caused and are currently fostering the crisis - aren't
you just a bit skeptical? There are compelling reasons to abandon fossil fuels that do not involve the global warming scenario - particulate pollution - dependence for survival
upon the good graces of dangerously concentrated corporate powers, and so on. Why
in hell isn't Al Gore and cohorts calling
for the nationalizing of our oil companies - man caused global warming or not? Why is Al Gore apparently relying on "market"
tinkering - taxation based phony fixes? Why the emphasis on us peon consumers - we don't have the power to turn this around. Could
man caused global warming be real? Yes, but
even if it is, the idiots and or scoundrels who have latched
onto this aren't proposing any meaningful fixes - why? There is plenty of evidence of sloppy
research, intentional fudging of data, agenda
pushing pseudo science on the part of the global warmers - look and you shall find. The
truth of man made global warming is far from
settled - this from a former believer - but
still open minded. Oh, one last point, do
some research on who is financing a lot of
the global warming propaganda on BOTH sides
of the issue - the Oil companies.

I agree on secession, its a great idea. I believe Ron Paul has the answers to save America, but if we come up short, secession is an option.
The whole global warming spiel was only created for the carbon tax, which will fund the new world order. Mars is experiencing global warming as well, should the Martians have to pay this tax as well.
George Bush (41) once told Barbara Walters that if we only knew what they were up to, we would chase them down the street and hang them on the nearest lamp post. I think that's a better idea. I believe if 10% of the people rose up simultaneously we could over throw the bastards over the course of a weekend. If you look at the French Revolution and Bastille Day, you can see where it actually happened. They have contingency plans where the government actually goes underground and unleashes a deadly pandemic of disease on us. I believe when the American people realize that Bush (43) has signed over the sovereignty of the United States to the central bankers, they will rise up and it won't be pretty. Buy guns while you can and load up on ammo and supplies.

I am a regular reader of your article. And I am very impress with your blog upon Global Warming. Now I am also write a blog upon effects and causes of Global Warming. This blog is collection of news & reviews like the study found that global warming since 1985 has been caused neither by an increase in solar radiation nor by a decrease in the flux of galactic cosmic rays. Some researchers had also suggested that the latter might influence global warming because the rays trigger cloud formation.

Already done: http://www.freestateproject.org

that's exactly how you know that global warming is just another hoax; the only solutions offered do nothing for the environment, but are making a lot of money for a few people. The other reason for the hoax is to get everyone peacefully settled into their new third-world lifestyle. Everything but complete poverty increases your "carbon footprint." If you want to see the scientific reasons it's a hoax, go to google video and watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle". It's time someone got my carbon footprint on their butt.

Secession is an answer. Unfortunately, the US Federal Government already proved (in 1865) beyond any shadow of a doubt that any States that assert a right to themselves will not be tolerated.

One other solution is to have a President brave enough to dismantle his own government; this is why Ron Paul is so very dangerous and why he is being hamstrung by the media... because he might actually do it.

You might be on to something here. Others agree:

Clearly the writer is correct about the scam of global warming. Some Global warming is the precursor to a new ice age. It's simply to instill evermore fear and it's not going to work. Next will be fear of aliens and when that doesn't work it'll be planet X or Nibiru. This is all designed to make us compliant and allow the Rothschild cabal to install their NWO.

Secession is the only answer for a gov't that continues to violate our rights:
They violate the 1st Amendment by opening mail, caging demonstrators and banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon.
They violate the 2nd Amendment by confiscating guns during Katrina.
They violate the 4th Amendment by conducting warrant-less wiretaps.
They violate the 5th and 6th Amendment by suspending habeas corpus.
They violate the 8th Amendment by torturing.
They violate the entire Constitution by starting 2 illegal wars based on lies and on behalf of a foriegn gov't.
Support Dr. Ron Paul or force secession.

Ron Paul is the one to support, however,
they control the voting machines and
the polls. The phony polls showing Ron Paul
with less than 2% have to be exposed. I'm
afraid Hillary is the designated winner for
2008, and will win only through poll fixing.
If the Ron Paul people don't address
fixed polls and elections he ain't got a
chance - though he is waking a lot of
people up to the present sorry state of
the Union - enough, we'll see.

Bravo! you have some great ideas

No hope! Americans are brainwashed by the zionazis media, the rest has no cojones top do anything!

Here's what's sad about the argument over the "global warming" thang ... It's not the real argument, it's not what "green" is all about.

Those in power are very good about changing the frame of the argument(s) to suit them. They turn us against each other with these conflicting sources of (dis)information. The whole thing has framed the argument in such a way that they can say; "well global warming isn't happening or we aren't causing it - so now we don't have to regulate pollution!!!!!!

Even though, this article is about oh so much more than "global warming," most of the comments were over this rediculous argument whether it's happening or not, and if not that - if we are the cause of it!

The argument was and should be - quality-of-life. And, hand-in-hand, respect for private property (constitutionally mandated). And the argument should be framed that way - not around global warming.

As well meaning as all of u are, please stop arguing about something that is out of our realm of knowledge, and so full of dis-informaion the best of us couldn't make a rational decision on it. - The frame for the argument is, and always has been, about Quality-of-Life and Respect for Private-Property anyway, and it should be returned to that. And we should keep it in that frame if someone tries to change it back.

Stop polluting our children's children's children for short-term profit. - period! It doesn't matter whether global warming, or us being the cause of it, is happening or not.

China is now dumping as much pollution on us as we are, one-out-of-four women in N.Y.C. have elevated mercury in their system, super-fund cleanup dumps aren't being cleaned up, tons of depleted uranium have been turned into fine dust all over eastern europe and the middle-east, 1-in-160 are diagnosed with autism for "unknown reasons!" etc etc etc etc.
There is an elite class who truly do not care about us - they only care about short-term profits.

Wake up and smell the burnt-bitter-coffee.

Things are very bad ... when people start realizing their only real choice is outright seccesion, general strike, or r e v o l u t i o n, or joining the nwo.

to hell with global-warming - I'm sick of hearing about it.
Everything is at stake right now - our nation, the constitution & bill of rights, the economy, WW3, the wholesale rape and polluting of our earth, free-and-fair elections, a media owned and operated by the elites, everything is in place for martial law (including the internment camps), - the list goes on.

: ) - g'nite good people - |3ill|3o

g'luck

I think that a good solution would be to reorganize the states for practical purposes. The People in the States could register as Original State Inhabitants instead of residents, claim all they own as principals and vote for inhabitants instead of residents who have mostly made an oath to the federal System some way. Also someone could check to see if the US is a corporation and check out it founding paperwork cause I don't think it operates from founding ideals, Good Luck

13ill, 13o,

The point that the elites have framed
pollution and the destruction of the planet solely in terms of whether or not there is man made global warming, thus deflecting attention from undebateable, just as destructive assaults on the earth such as GM food, particlate pollution, depleted uranium, squandering of our top soil through the use of fossil fuel based "fertilizer", etc., is resulting in this kind of sleight of hand magic trick, letting the wholesale
destruction of the planet continue while we sit around calculating our carbon inprint, or not - if one doesn't believe in the global warming scenario. Your point is well taken. The fact is, whether or not global warming is real would not be that important if those in power were serious about saving the earth. Just controlling particlate pollution and preserving our soil through non-petrolium based agriculture would necesitate massive reductions in the use of fossil fuel and it's byproducts.

>"whether or not global warming is real would not be that important if those in power were serious about saving the earth."

yes ... though, I find it sad (distressing, mortifying) that the possible destruction of life-as-we-know-it is necessary to get our elected representatives to get off their ass and do something towards controlling or regulating pollution (that doesn't seem to be working very well either).

If we reframe the argument back to "quality-of-life" & "respect-for-private-property," which is constitutionally mandated, they cannot deny it so easily.

The global warming & cause can still be denied, obfuscated etc because it is too broad and vague - It also does not address all the pollution that doesn't directly affect "global warming;" like: mercury (mining & refineries), fertilizer & other runoffs, heavy metals and plastics, medicines, etc etc etc.

If we are more specific with the pollution & the result it can be potentially argued more successfully.

If the whiners can get together and unconstitutionally make cig smoking in restaurants illegal, why can't we argue that pollution that has affects many times worse, and effects Everyone who lives in an area (everytime anyone walks down any city street) is unacceptable - period.

I believe it is easier to prove that pollution is harmful to us (a city, town, person, home, wildlife), than to argue that it is contributing to global warming.

It takes local people to take action on local problems, specifically - we managed to stop an incinerator from getting built here a few decades ago (for example). We stopped it by arguing it was upwind from an elementary school and would drop property values, & we successfully mandated a recycling program, - Not because we argued it would contribute to global warming.

=========

The point of the article was that the system is broke - the big-boys aren't playing along with anything that would resemble a government by and for the people.

All the problems listed in yours, mine and other posts (including global warming) are not being addressed by our government - or others. The system is for all intents and purposes - is broke!

Secession would only work if there was a mass of them - maybe even a majority of states (if 1 seceded, they would just whack it (turn it into new-texas or something)). There are a vast majority of citizens disgruntled with the direction of our government, I wonder if it's enough.

I would love to hear any possible fix to this mess.

I think there are two possible solutions: a third party - really a second party - or secession.
