I haven't had the energy to play around with the darker images of warfare for quite some time. I am not sure what motivated me to fool around in Photoshop this evening, but eventually a pile of photos of war and torture caught my eye and they morphed into art.

This is the latest in my Art of War series, a series I have abandoned for some time as it just gets too depressing to spend hours juxtaposing images of war and violence with objects of beauty.  As such, I got a little lazy on this photo of Palestinians fleeing their homeland as settlers torch what remains of their livelihood.

I started this series several years ago, back when I was learning how to navigate Photoshop.  "Make art not war."  I truly believe this.  A few years ago, I sent several boxes of coloring books and art supplies to troops stationed in Iraq to pass o0ut to the kids.  Maybe some child could escape in a world of Crayola-color for a few hours, I don't know.  What I do know is that tens of thousands if not a  few hundred thousand Iraqi children have died since the bombing campaign began 5 years ago.

Fact: The attack on Afghanistan was developed before March of 2001.  Fact: The initial troops sent to Afghanistan received orders in June/July of 2001.  Fact: Bush and Cheney both suggested the US find a way to pin the WTC/Pentagon attacks on Iraq.  Fact:  Iraq had no WMD.  Fact:  Iraq was not involved int he attacks on the US.  Ergo, every Iraqi and Afghan prisoner tortured at the behest of the Commander-in-Chief cannot have any information regarding these terrorist activities because the nations of Afghanistan and Iraq were not responsible for the attacks on US skyscrapers that infamous day.  The US military, intelligence and defense contractors (along with their Mossad counterparts)  are   willfully engaging in crimes against humanity.  Silence is not only complicity, it is a slur against the United States and the priciples upon which it was founded.  Silence is consent to rape, torture, and pollute the world with depleted uranium. 

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
