Fukushima and the death of the Pacific Ocean - a list of links

Scientists are “baffled”, “befuddled”, concerned”, and “curious” about the die-off of the Pacific Ocean.  Almost no one mentions the F word, Fukushima.  I put together this links from Enenews.com that shows a direct correlation between the Fukushima and the die-off, even if scientists refuse to admit it.  Every story comes from a major publication.  These stories have been out since the beginning of the meltdowns.  There is not one scientist studying this who does not have access to this information.  Either they chose to look the other way or they are incompetent researchers who don’t really want to know the truth.

There are a thousand links here, all in chronological order.  If you are pressed for time, skip to the back and read backwards to see how bad it really is.  I put this file together so that when someone says prove it, at least there are 50 plus pages of links that prove that Fukushima is killing the North Pacific Ocean.  Humans are next.

Fukushima and the death of the Pacific Ocean

I have put together a .PDF  of a link to all of the stories from enenews.com since 3/11 that involve the death of the ocean, life forms and government cover-ups.  It is in response to a letter I wrote to a scents who is "baffled" as to why the whales are dying and why flesh is rotting off the bodies.  Please share.

Emails About Fukushima to a Publicist's Author

Issac,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have NEVER thought myself as an anti-nuclear or anything of the sort. More of a Pro responsible development type of person. I have been completely neutral about nuclear anything, until the events of Fukushima caused me to start researching what is truly going on.

I live here in Alaska, and eat locally caught seafood, put this same food in my pantry, and on my kitchen table for my family and friends to eat. These same salmon were caught in the Pacific Ocean.
I wrote a lengthy email to Alaskan Lawmakers, Government officials and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, addressing the concerns I have for Alaska's Seafood Industry and not one reply.
When I talked to Alaska Department of Fish in Game in person, they assured me that Alaska's Salmon do not migrate to Japan, however, on their own website it states that they do indeed migrate to Japan. They point to the EPA, who's job it is to monitor the environment for radiation, but in the last 3+ years, we have not seen any real efforts for ongoing monitoring or testing from the EPA, other than a canned, "its fine". Like I am encouraged by any report from the EPA - NOT! (this is the same agency, whom after 9/11, released a report to the Government that said the air in NYC was the same consistency as breathing vaporized liquid drano, then said it was safe to breathe, after the pressure from the Federal Government told them to change the report… look it up).

As to my specific concerns, It is about nuclear in general, in that IT IS NOT SAFE! I will be more specific in a moment.
My first thought was to keep this brief but, as I started typing, I realized that it would do IN-JUSTICE to leave anything out. But trust me, I have skipped a whole lot! These are just a few highlights of the severity of this situation. - In summary, these are just a few of my findings, which describe some of the concerns myself, and others have. Keep in mind, that I have been researching this for the last 3+ years, ever since the Earthquake and Tsunami that devastated Japan on 3/11/2011. So I will endeavor to keep it brief, but fear leaving something out which would be pertinent.

My initial concern started right after the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, All of the debris, from the ensuing tsunami AND nuclear explosion (a debris field the size of Texas, floating in the Pacific, which will impact the entire Pacific Ocean), that flooded into the ocean, into the atmosphere. Then the subsequent radiation plume, from the exploded Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Reactors, that carried crossed the Pacific and was dumped all across the United States (and continues to do so) has me deeply concerned. TEPCO has been dumping radioactive waste into the Pacific Ocean, The NRC allows it to happen, and hardly a peep from Main Stream Media.

The NRC is NOT doing their job to protect "the people". This is first and foremost.
Nuclear waste WILL NEVER GO AWAY! It will continue to pollute the planet and the NRC's purpose is to keep the nuclear agenda moving forward at all costs. The only oversight we have, is by those entities who are sworn to protecting the industry and NOT protect the health of the people.

Let me break down this into several pieces. It is not just about Fukushima here….

STORAGE:
Take WIPP, for example... It is a pilot project and they are using green-kitty litter to cover the stored fuel, which was the cause of their fire earlier this year.

There was a plutonium release into the air. This was not widely reported, but it did happen.
This was a pilot project which was designed not to fail for a thousand years, yet it already has….. (BTW.. what is the 1/2 life of Plutonium)?

Hanford has it's own problems.
"All the double-shell tanks contain waste that continuously generates some flammable gas," the board said in a letter received by Wyden on Monday. "This gas, will eventually reach flammable conditions if adequate ventilation is not provided".
Adequate ventilation????

PEOPLE ARE GETTING SICK!

THE NRC is turning their backs on these people.
IF the NRC is the oversight for this process, then they are not very competent in their keeping the public "safe".

Hanford is located below a dam, which has structural defects too

Now we have Calhoun Nuclear power plant, in the news, which is being shut down due to flooding risk (again).

Their generators are located BELOW HIGH FLOOD LEVEL!
Who allowed this to be built in a flood zone anyways?

Did you catch the report about the FLOOD and FIRE back in 2011?

There are way too many links to provide, but plenty are out there….

There are a number of "sources" which hold some level of credibility…
Because of all the DIS-Information, and MIS-information from TEPCO, the NRC, The US Government, Government of Japan (who I might add, put a gag order on ALL nuclear news, with threats of jail time, unless it is ok'd by them as being 'not against national security) It is difficult to weed through the information and come to a logical conclusion!
Do not take my word, Nor anyone else's…. Please, make up your own mind.

FUKUSHIMA'S CHILDREN ARE DYING…. 6/15/2014
Some 39 months after the multiple explosions at Fukushima, thyroid cancer rates among nearby children have skyrocketed to more than forty times (40x) normal.
More than 48 percent of some 375,000 young people—nearly 200,000 kids—tested by the Fukushima Medical University near the smoldering reactors now suffer from pre-cancerous thyroid abnormalities, primarily nodules and cysts. The rate is accelerating.
More than 120 childhood cancers have been indicated where just three would be expected, says Joseph Mangano, executive director of theRadiation and Public Health Project.
The nuclear industry and its apologists continue to deny this public health tragedy. Some have actually asserted that “not one person” has been affected by Fukushima’s massive radiation releases, which for some isotopes exceed Hiroshima by a factor of nearly 30.

Below, are just a few people, with information and documentation, who have gone to great lengths to report on these events, and raise the awareness of others.

and many others…

There are mass die-off's, anomalies, and other odd events and everyone downplays the connection to nuclear waste.  Starfish turning to mush, Sardines and other feeder fish almost non-existent, Pelican population almost at zero, Whales with tumors, Rare Whales moving closer to the West Coast, Squid catches at an all time low. Oyster population decimated, Pink Salmon diseased, 100% of the Pacific Tuna tested last year tested positive for Cesium 137, along with other so called non-related events happening around the Pacific Ocean. Forests and trees are being affected, deformed blooms, sprouting from the trunks, leaf color wrong for this time of year. I could go on and on (look them up).

Now there is talk that radioactive material might make it's way to consumers?  The Government of Japan states that they are giving government grants to companies who are interested in extracting rare metals from the radioactive waste, to recycle it. This is an indication that they will extract the rare metals. They will have to dispose of the rest of the metals which all are still contaminated… These WILL be recycled, as well. These new recycled products WILL end up in the hands of unknowing consumers. How would you know? How would I know? Or anybody??
This is absolutely insane!

They… (TEPCO, JAPAN, THEM, WE, US, ANYBODY, NOBODY) has a way of ever cleaning up this mess, EVER. The technology needed to clean up this mess HAS NOT BEEN INVENTED YET!
The NRC is trying their best to keep a lid on reporting the truth. TEPCO has given false information, only later to be called on it. And their response is, "so sorry".

I am deeply concerned that we would even allow such an atrocity to happen.
Put depleted or enriched uranium in ammunition and shoot it all over the world.
Nuclear waste cannot be stored safely. It IS contaminating our food supply. It is contaminating the planet.

Recycled radioactive waste IS coming and we don't have a choice!

Do you think that the USS Ronald Reagan is completely scrubbed down? that was in Bremerton Washington, where did they dispose of this waste? Need I say more?

Oh, one more thing, As I started this email the other day, here in Chugiak Alaska, it began to rain. I put my own Geiger counter out to take a reading, (a Mazur PRM 9000 Geiger counter). For the last 8 months, I have had an average reading of between 21-24 CPM. Well, the other day, It was spiking at 55 CPM, and averaged 44 CPM over a 10 minute period of time (THIS IS NOT NORMAL). The radiation, floating around in the atmosphere, from every nuclear detonation we have ever had, finds its way back down at sometime.

Do you fly? What is the exposure to radiation while flying? Most of this is man-made radiation. It is NOT normal!

My sincere hope is to spread the word, raise awareness, create some sense of urgency, talk to my children, as it is THEIR generation, and THEIR children who get to clean up our mess, long after we are gone.

I know there is so much more I have left out, but feel it is all-imperative to share.
I have cc'd both Mimi German, from RadCast.org, and Clint (Citizen Perth) on this email.
Feel free to reach out to them, as I have their permission to cc them on this as well.

So, specifically, I am wondering if YOU, are the journalist, who is willing to put YOUR credibility on the line, and blow the lid off of this atrocity?

Maybe you are another CHAMPION, who can help locate someone who can invent the technology to clean up this mess. - (I say shrugging my shoulders) if not you, then WHO?
Take your pick, where  YOU would like to start.

Sincere Regards,

John

28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima

Fukushima-Radiation-450x270

The map above comes from the Nuclear Emergency Tracking Center.  It shows that radiation levels at radiation monitoring stations all over the country are elevated.  As you will notice, this is particularly true along the west coast of the United States.  Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean.  That means that the total amouont of radioactive material released from Fukushima is constantly increasing, and it is steadily building up in our food chain.  Ultimately, all of this nuclear radiation will outlive all of us by a very wide margin.  They are saying that it could take up to 40 years to clean up the Fukushima disaster, and meanwhile countless innocent people will develop cancer and other health problems as a result of exposure to high levels of nuclear radiation.  We are talking about a nuclear disaster that is absolutely unprecedented, and it is constantly getting worse.  The following are 28 signs that the west coast of North America is being absolutely fried with nuclear radiation from Fukushima…

1. Polar bears, seals and walruses along the Alaska coastline are suffering fromfur loss and open sores

Wildlife experts are studying whether fur loss and open sores detected in nine polar bears in recent weeks is widespread and related to similar incidents among seals and walruses.

The bears were among 33 spotted near Barrow, Alaska, during routine survey work along the Arctic coastline. Tests showed they had “alopecia, or loss of fur, and other skin lesions,” the U.S. Geological Survey said in a statement.

2. There is an epidemic of sea lion deaths along the California coastline…

At island rookeries off the Southern California coast, 45 percent of the pups born in June have died, said Sharon Melin, a wildlife biologist for the National Marine Fisheries Service based in Seattle. Normally, less than one-third of the pups would die.   It’s gotten so bad in the past two weeks that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared an “unusual mortality event.”

3. Along the Pacific coast of Canada and the Alaska coastline, the population of sockeye salmon is at a historic low.  Many are blaming Fukushima.

4. Something is causing fish all along the west coast of Canada to bleed from their gills, bellies and eyeballs.

5. A vast field of radioactive debris from Fukushima that is approximately the size of California has crossed the Pacific Ocean and is starting to collide with the west coast.

6. It is being projected that the radioactivity of coastal waters off the U.S. west coast could double over the next five to six years.

7. Experts have found very high levels of cesium-137 in plankton living in the waters of the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and the west coast.

8. One test in California found that 15 out of 15 bluefin tuna were contaminated with radiation from Fukushima.

9. Back in 2012, the Vancouver Sun reported that cesium-137 was being found ina very high percentage of the fish that Japan was selling to Canada…

• 73 percent of mackerel tested

• 91 percent of the halibut

• 92 percent of the sardines

• 93 percent of the tuna and eel

• 94 percent of the cod and anchovies

• 100 percent of the carp, seaweed, shark and monkfish

10. Canadian authorities are finding extremely high levels of nuclear radiation in certain fish samples…

Some fish samples tested to date have had very high levels of radiation: one sea bass sample collected in July, for example, had 1,000 becquerels per kilogram of cesium.

11. Some experts believe that we could see very high levels of cancer along the west coast just from people eating contaminated fish

“Look at what’s going on now: They’re dumping huge amounts of radioactivity into the ocean — no one expected that in 2011,” Daniel Hirsch, a nuclear policy lecturer at the University of California-Santa Cruz, told Global Security Newswire. “We could have large numbers of cancer from ingestion of fish.”

12. BBC News recently reported that radiation levels around Fukushima are “18 times higher” than previously believed.

13. An EU-funded study concluded that Fukushima released up to 210 quadrillion becquerels of cesium-137 into the atmosphere.

14. Atmospheric radiation from Fukushima reached the west coast of the United States within a few days back in 2011.

15. At this point, 300 tons of contaminated water is pouring into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day.

16. A senior researcher of marine chemistry at the Japan Meteorological Agency’s Meteorological Research Institute says that “30 billion becquerels of radioactive cesium and 30 billion becquerels of radioactive strontium” are being released into the Pacific Ocean from Fukushima every single day.

17. According to Tepco, a total of somewhere between 20 trillion and 40 trillion becquerels of radioactive tritium have gotten into the Pacific Ocean since the Fukushima disaster first began.

18. According to a professor at Tokyo University, 3 gigabecquerels of cesium-137 are flowing into the port at Fukushima Daiichi every single day.

19. It has been estimated that up to 100 times as much nuclear radiation has been released into the ocean from Fukushima than was released during the entire Chernobyl disaster.

20. One recent study concluded that a very large plume of cesium-137 from the Fukushima disaster will start flowing into U.S. coastal waters early next year

Ocean simulations showed that the plume of radioactive cesium-137 released by the Fukushima disaster in 2011 could begin flowing into U.S. coastal waters starting in early 2014 and peak in 2016.

21. It is being projected that significant levels of cesium-137 will reach every corner of the Pacific Ocean by the year 2020.

22. It is being projected that the entire Pacific Ocean will soon “have cesium levels 5 to 10 times higher” than what we witnessed during the era of heavy atomic bomb testing in the Pacific many decades ago.

23. The immense amounts of nuclear radiation getting into the water in the Pacific Ocean has caused environmental activist Joe Martino to issue the following warning

“Your days of eating Pacific Ocean fish are over.”

24. The Iodine-131, Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 that are constantly coming from Fukushima are going to affect the health of those living the the northern hemisphere for a very, very long time.  Just consider what Harvey Wassermanhad to say about this…

Iodine-131, for example, can be ingested into the thyroid, where it emits beta particles (electrons) that damage tissue. A plague of damaged thyroids has already been reported among as many as 40 percent of the children in the Fukushima area. That percentage can only go higher. In developing youngsters, it can stunt both physical and mental growth. Among adults it causes a very wide range of ancillary ailments, including cancer.

Cesium-137 from Fukushima has been found in fish caught as far away as California. It spreads throughout the body, but tends to accumulate in the muscles.

Strontium-90’s half-life is around 29 years. It mimics calcium and goes to our bones.

25. According to a recent Planet Infowars report, the California coastline is being transformed into “a dead zone”…

The California coastline is becoming like a dead zone.

If you haven’t been to a California beach lately, you probably don’t know that the rocks are unnaturally CLEAN – there’s hardly any kelp, barnacles, sea urchins, etc. anymore and the tide pools are similarly eerily devoid of crabs, snails and other scurrying signs of life… and especially as compared to 10 – 15 years ago when one was wise to wear tennis shoes on a trip to the beach in order to avoid cutting one’s feet on all the STUFF of life – broken shells, bones, glass, driftwood, etc.

There are also days when I am hard-pressed to find even a half dozen seagulls and/or terns on the county beach.

You can still find a few gulls trolling the picnic areas and some of the restaurants (with outdoor seating areas) for food, of course, but, when I think back to 10 – 15 years ago, the skies and ALL the beaches were literally filled with seagulls and the haunting sound of their cries both day and night…

NOW it’s unnaturally quiet.

26. A study conducted last year came to the conclusion that radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster could negatively affect human life along the west coast of North America from Mexico to Alaska “for decades”.

27. According to the Wall Street Journal, it is being projected that the cleanup of Fukushima could take up to 40 years to complete.

28. Yale Professor Charles Perrow is warning that if the cleanup of Fukushima is not handled with 100% precision that humanity could be threatened “for thousands of years“…

“Conditions in the unit 4 pool, 100 feet from the ground, are perilous, and if any two of the rods touch it could cause a nuclear reaction that would be uncontrollable. The radiation emitted from all these rods, if they are not continually cool and kept separate, would require the evacuation of surrounding areas including Tokyo. Because of the radiation at the site the 6,375 rods in the common storage pool could not be continuously cooled; they would fission and all of humanity will be threatened, for thousands of years.”

Are you starting to understand why so many people are so deeply concerned about what is going on at Fukushima?

11 Facts About The Ongoing Fukushima Nuclear Holocaust That Are Almost Too Horrifying To Believe

via The Truth Wins
11 Facts About The Ongoing Fukushima Nuclear Holocaust That Are Almost Too Horrifying To Believe
By Michael Snyder

Is Fukushima the greatest environmental disaster of all time?  Every single day, 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima enters the Pacific Ocean.  The radioactive material that is being released will outlive all of us by a very wide margin, and it is constantly building up in the food chain.  Nobody knows for sure how many people will eventually develop cancer and other health problems as a result of the Fukushima nuclear disaster, but some experts are not afraid to use the word “billions”.  It has been well over two years since the original disaster, and now they are telling us that it could take up to 40 more years to clean it up.  It is a nightmare of unimaginable proportions, and there is nowhere in the northern hemisphere that you will be able to hide from it.  The following are 11 facts about the ongoing Fukushima nuclear holocaust that are almost too horrifying to believe…

#1 It is estimated that there are 1,331 used nuclear fuel rods that need to be removed from Fukushima.  Because of all of the damage that has taken place, computer-guided removal of the rods will not be possible.  Manual removal is much riskier, and it is absolutely essential that the removal of each of the 1,331 rods goes perfectly because a single mistake could potentially lead to a nuclear chain reaction.

#2 According to Reuters, the combined amount of cesium-137 contained in those nuclear fuel rods is 14,000 times greater than what was released when the U.S. dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima at the end of World War II.  Other estimates put this number far higher.

#3 Officials in Japan admit that 300 tons of radioactive water from Fukushima is entering the Pacific Ocean every 24 hours.

#4 According to a professor at Tokyo University, 3 gigabecquerels of cesium-137 are flowing into the port at Fukushima Daiichi every single day

Yoichiro Tateiwa, NHK reporter: [Professor Jota] Kanda argues government statistics don’t add up. He says a daily leakage of 300 tons doesn’t explain the current levels of radiation in the water.

Jota Kanda, Tokyo University professor: According to my research there are now 3 gigabecquerels [3 billion becquerels ] of cesium-137 flowing into the port at Fukushima Daiichi every day. But for the 300 tons of groundwater to contain this much cesium-137, one liter of groundwater has to contain 10,000 becquerels of the radioactive isotope.

NHK: Kanda’s research and monitoring by Tepco puts the amount of cesium-137 in the groundwater around the plant at several hundred becquerels per liter at most. He’s concluded that radioactive isotope is finding another way to get into the ocean. He’s calling on the government and Tepco to identify contamination routes other than groundwater.

#5 According to Tepco, a total of somewhere between 20 trillion and 40 trillion becquerels of radioactive tritium have gotten into the Pacific Ocean since the Fukushima disaster first began.

#6 Something is causing fish along the west coast of Canada to bleed from their gills, bellies and eyeballs.  Could Fukushima be responsible?

#7 150 former sailors and Marines say that they now have radiation sickness as a result of serving on U.S. Navy ships near Fukushima and they are suing for damages.

#8 The Iodine-131, Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 that are constantly coming from Fukushima are going to affect the health of those living the the northern hemisphere for a very, very long time.  Just check out what Harvey Wasserman had to say recently…

#9 It is believed that the Fukushima nuclear facility originally contained a whopping1760 tons of nuclear material.

#10 It is being projected that the entire Pacific Ocean will soon “have cesium levels 5 to 10 times higher” than what we witnessed during the era of heavy atomic bomb testing in the Pacific many decades ago.

#11 According to the Wall Street Journal, it is being projected that the cleanup of Fukushima could take up to 40 years to complete.

Sadly, the true horror of this disaster is only starting to be understood, and most people have absolutely no idea how serious all of this is.  What fallout researcher Christina Consolo told RT the other day should be very sobering for all of us…

We have endless releases into the Pacific Ocean that will be ongoing for not only our lifetimes, but our children’s’ lifetimes. We have 40 million people living in the Tokyo area nearby. We have continued releases from the underground corium that reminds us it is there occasionally with steam events and huge increases in radiation levels. Across the Pacific, we have at least two peer-reviewed scientific studies so far that have already provided evidence of increased mortality in North America, and thyroid problems in infants on the west coast states from our initial exposures.

We have increasing contamination of the food chain, through bioaccumulation and biomagnification. And a newly stated concern is the proximity of melted fuel in relation to the Tokyo aquifer that extends under the plant. If and when the corium reaches the Tokyo aquifer, serious and expedient discussions will have to take place about evacuating 40 million people from the greater metropolitan area. As impossible as this sounds, you cannot live in an area which does not have access to safe water.

The operation to begin removing fuel from such a severely damaged pool has never been attempted before. The rods are unwieldy and very heavy, each one weighing two-thirds of a ton. But it has to be done, unless there is some way to encase the entire building in concrete with the pool as it is. I don’t know of anyone discussing that option, but it would seem much ‘safer’ than what they are about to attempt…but not without its own set of risks.

And all this collateral damage will continue for decades, if not centuries, even if things stay exactly the way they are now. But that is unlikely, as bad things happen like natural disasters and deterioration with time…earthquakes, subsidence, and corrosion, to name a few. Every day that goes by, the statistical risk increases for this apocalyptic scenario. No one can say or know how this will play out, except that millions of people will probably die even if things stay exactly as they are, and billions could die if things get any worse.

The area immediately around Fukushima is already permanently uninhabitable, and the truth is that a much wider area of northern Japan should probably be declared off limits for human habitation.

But this just isn’t about Japan.  The cold, hard reality of the matter is that this is truly a disaster that is planetary in scope.  The nuclear material from Fukushima is going to be carried all over the northern hemisphere, and countless numbers of people are going to become seriously ill as a result.

And remember, this is a disaster that is not even close to being contained yet.  Hundreds of tons of radioactive water continues to enter the Pacific Ocean every single day making the disaster that we are facing even worse.

May God have mercy on us all.

Ecuador to auction off more than 3 MILLION hectares of pristine Amazonian rainforest to Chinese oil companies

Ecuador plans to auction off more than three million hectares of pristine Amazonian rainforest to Chinese oil companies, angering indigenous groups and underlining the global environmental toll of China's insatiable thirst for energy.

On Monday morning a group of Ecuadorean politicians pitched bidding contracts to representatives of Chinese oil companies at a Hilton hotel in central Beijing, on the fourth leg of a roadshow to publicise the bidding process. Previous meetings in Ecuador's capital, Quito, and in Houston and Paris were each confronted with protests by indigenous groups.

Attending the roadshow were black-suited representatives from oil companies including China Petrochemical and China National Offshore Oil. "Ecuador is willing to establish a relationship of mutual benefit – a win-win relationship," said Ecuador's ambassador to China in opening remarks.
According to the California-based NGO Amazon Watch, seven indigenous groups who inhabit the land claim that they have not consented to oil projects, which would devastate the area's environment and threaten their traditional way of life.

"We demand that public and private oil companies across the world not participate in the bidding process that systematically violates the rights of seven indigenous nationalities by imposing oil projects in their ancestral territories," a group of Ecuadorean organised indigenous associations wrote in an open letter last autumn.

In an interview, Ecuador's secretary of hydrocarbons, Andrés Donoso Fabara, accused indigenous leaders of misrepresenting their communities to achieve political goals. "These guys with a political agenda, they are not thinking about development or about fighting against poverty," he said.
Fabara said the government had decided not to open certain blocks of land to bidding because it lacked support from local communities. "We are entitled by law, if we wanted, to go in by force and do some activities even if they are against them," he said. "But that's not our policy."

Amazon Watch said the deal would violate China's own new investment guidelines, issued jointly by the ministries of commerce and environmental protection last month. The third clause of the guidelines says Chinese enterprises should "promote harmonious development of local economy, environment and community" while operating abroad.

Fabara said he was not aware of the guidelines. "We're looking for global investors, not just investors from China," he said. "But of course Chinese companies are really aggressive. In a bidding process, they might present the winning bids."

Critics say national debt may be a large part of the Ecuadorean government's calculations. Ecuador owed China more than £4.6bn ($7bn) as of last summer, more than a tenth of its GDP. China began loaning billions of dollars to Ecuador in 2009 in exchange for oil shipments. More recently China helped fund two of its biggest hydroelectric infrastructure projects. Ecuador may soon build a $12.5bn oil refinery with Chinese financing.

"My understanding is that this is more of a debt issue – it's because the Ecuadoreans are so dependent on the Chinese to finance their development that they're willing to compromise in other areas such as social and environmental regulations," said Adam Zuckerman, environmental and human rights campaigner at Amazon Watch. "The message that they're trying to send to international investors is not in line with reality."
Last July the inter-American court on human rights ruled to prohibit oil developments in the Sarayaku, a tropical rainforest territory in southern Ecuador that is accessible only by plane and canoe, in order to preserve its rich cultural heritage and biodiversity. The court also mandated that governments obtain "free, prior and informed consent" from native groups before approving oil activities on their indigenous land.

A TV news report broadcast by the US Spanish-language network Telemundo showed members of Ecuadorean native groups – some wearing traditional facepaint and headdresses – waving protest banners and scuffling with security guards outside the Ecuadorean government's roadshow stop in Houston.

"What the government's been saying as they have been offering up our territory is not true; they have not consulted us, and we're here to tell the big investors that they don't have our permission to exploit our land," Narcisa Mashienta, a women's leader of Ecuador's Shuar people, said in the report.

Water, Consciousness & Intent

Water is the source of life.  This point was brought home to me in a sweatlodge that I attended a few days ago.  I do not normally drink much before going into a sweat and by the time I was done with this one, I had come to appreciate water as never before.  At one point the shaman told us to drink it in as he poured  precious pitchers of clean water onto the earth floor.   "Think about all of the people who have no access to clean water," he told us.  "Think about the people who have to walk hours just for a bucket of dirty water."  With door and each song celebrating the sacred water, we became thirstier like never before.

"Drink with gratitude," he said - and I did and have ever since.

I haev seen this video before, but a recent sighting on Zengardner inspired me to post it here.  Our oceans are being decimated.  Not only is the Macondo well leaking again (or an area nearby - BP won't give out any info), but the oceans are being contaminated from Fukushima.  The sea animals are dying.  The marine life is radioactive.  We need to do something to heal the planet and good intentions will pave the way.

Please pray for the water.

Fukushima: A disaster that even publicity whores won't touch

In 1947 Albert Einstein wrote:

"Through the release of atomic energy, our generation has brought into the world the most revolutionary force since the prehistoric discovery of fire. This basic power of the universe cannot be fitted into the outmoded concept of narrow nationalisms. For there is no secret and there is no defense, there is no possibility of control except through the aroused understanding and insistence of the peoples of the world.

"We scientists recognize our inescapable responsibility to carry to our fellow citizens an understanding of the simple facts of atomic energy and its implications for society. In this lies our only security and our only hope—we believe that an informed citizenry will act for life and not death."

Fukushima.  Is that Japanese for Facebook?  No one seems to know what it is.  We do not have an informed citizenry to defend ourselves from this Extinction Level Event.  We have Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.  We have Kim Kardashian comparing her fake two-month marriage and subsequent staged divorce to the ordeal of a cancer patient.  Tell that to the little children of Fukushima, you ignorant, publicity whore.  More people have seen her sex tape than have seen the news about Fukushima.  The average male high school student watches 2 hours of porn every week.  An 18 year-old today has spent an average of 10,000 hours playing video games.   The average male high school student in the US cannot find Japan on a map and has no idea that there are three reactors with missing corium (because it has melted through the containment vessels and into the earth, and even TEPCO now admits it cannot find the corium) and the Spent Fuel Pool in Building #4 is on the verge of collapse, an earthquake away from killing us all in a relatively short period of time.

TEPCO says that it will be several years before they begin the removal of the spent fuel rods, but TEPCO says that in about five years (realistically a year) they will run out of workers unless there is a way to reduce the radiation, which they have not been able to do.  TEPCO also said that they would take care of this problem in ten years, after the technology to do so has been developed.   In short, it is FUBAR and run by men without souls.  I think their future plans involve the use of child slave labor.  The kids are gonna die, so what's the harm, right?

I was thinking about Princess Diana last night, wishing she was alive today because she was one of the most outspoken celebrities to use her position for the good of humankind. The most famous woman in the world would not have sat in silence as millions of people were poisoned by the Fukushima catastrophe. Sadly, there is no one willing to follow in her footsteps, not even her children.  Prince Harry  is heading to Afghanistan to take part in a continued war/occupation against a nation with a pipeline and mineral problem that can only be solved by bombing the country into oblivion.  I am sure that she would have been horrified that her son would willingly go off to a participate in the slaughter of innocents and the harvest of opium in a senseless war.  But all war is senseless, isn't it?

Where is Angelina Jolie? She goes around the world touting CFR BS about saving the children and refugees, and yet she and her more famous husband have not said a peep.

To great fanfare, The Huffington Post listed the 11 Most Inspiring Celebrity Activists Of 2011.  Justin Beiber, Lady Gaga, Bono, Scarlett Johansen, Angelina Jolie, 50 cent, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, Ellen Degeneres and Sheryl Crow made the list – and these people have remained silent about the worst catastrophe facing humankind.  Sheryl Crow urged everyone to use a single piece of toilet paper to save the environment (while flying around the world as a Global Warming activist) and yet she says nothing.  She had a brain turbo that she says was caused by cell phone use, and yet she says nothing about Fukushima, a disaster that will cause death by cancer for hundreds of millions of people.  I would think that she would have some sympathy for all of the children of Fukushima, almost half of whom have enlarged thyroids.   A photo taken by a school 60 kilometers from the Fukushima melththroughs shows 400 microsieverts/hour.  3.75 Sieverts in a short amount of time is instant death from radiation poisoning.  At this constant rate, half the children of teh Fukushima prefecture and surrounding areas will be dead in a year.  Who will take care of the sick and dying?  The Japanese government has turned its back on the population, espousing a "Just have happy thoughts and you won't get cancer" policy.  Hospitals have refused to treat the residents of Fukushima.  You cannot go into a hospital in Japan and have your blood tested for radiation.  It's the infamous, "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.  It seems to have worked because the majority of the world's population has forgotten about it.

Funny how many people commemorate the death of Princess Diana and yet those who loved her for her activism remain oblivious about the issues she was passionate about.

Harry Belafonte recently lashed out against Beyonce and Jay-Z for being socially irresponsible (to which Beyonce’s reps answered with a pathetic list of charitable contributions given her fame and fortune), but Harry Belafonte hasn’t said anything publicly about Fukushima.  Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, two of the most philanthropic celebrities in the history of celebritydom, have not spoken out about Fukushima, either.  How can it be that no one knows what is happening over there?

Sometimes I think I am trapped in a nightmare because surely we are not living on the set of Idiocracy, are we?

My Comment to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission

We've arranged a global civilization in which most crucial elements profoundly depend on science and technology. We have also arranged things so that almost no one understands science and technology. This is a prescription for disaster. We might get away with it for a while, but sooner or later this combustible mixture of ignorance and power is going to blow up in our faces. ~ Carl Sagan

I tried to get away from the news, and yet I was sucked into the internet today.  There was a 7.6 earthquake in Costa Rica that shook our building, making everyone sort of woozy.  Naturally, I had to spend half the day looking at reports, since the epicenter is near a dear place of mine.  Several of my friends live there.  Between earthquake stories, I checked out Enenews.com, the ultimate source of doom and gloom.  It's where you find stories like, Tepco Makes “Critical” Admission: Fukushima Unit 4 quake testing “does not take horizontal shaking into equation” — Claims it can withstand a “6+” quake only apply to VERTICAL shaking and Asahi: Tepco didn’t have enough cash to buy essential supplies as Fukushima reactors melted down and Asahi: White blood cell count spikes in Fukushima worker — 3,000+ may not have used dosimeters at plant just after 3/11, or in case you missed it, Appalling: Tepco admits there’s no prepositioned chemicals at Fukushima plant in event water drains from fuel pool after quake — “They had not even considered it”.

When I read American Students Featured in Fukushima Propaganda Film: The cherries are delicious — The nuclear power plant has brought us together — “Fukushima is here, unchanged to this day”,  I thought I had entered the Twilight Zone.  One of the comments took me to http://nukeprofessional.blogspot.com/, which led me to the NRC website.  The only way I could relieve the pressure in my head was to share in the public comments section. My letter is awaiting moderation and has a zero chance of making it onto their website, despite all this talk of "Open Goverment".   I signed my name, as I always do.  I do not believe in anonymity to express my opinions and I use my real name whenever possible.  I don't care if a prospective employer checks me out.  (I cannot imagine for working for someone else again!)  I stand by my beliefs, even if it puts me closer to Obama's Enemy Kill List.

Here is my letter.  There are no other comments on this blog post.

Kelly Thomas September 5, 2012 at 11:01 pm Your comment is awaiting moderation.

The only way you can “build a better platform to better serve the American people” is to create a platform that dismantles all nuclear power plants. How are you serving young Americans right now, the ones who will be forced to maintain these aging nuclear power plants once they have surpassed their lifespans? These plants have a 40 year shelf life, and most are expiring soon. Then what? Is it the responsibility of the next 5,000 generations to maintain these expired nuclear sites? How are you serving the American people by allowing these Extinction Level Event disasters to litter the American landscape?

Fukushima is already an ELE. Three of the cores have melted through the containment vessels and into the Earth. TEPCO says it doesn’t know where it is (NASA can easily spot it, but refuses to show the pictures to the public), but not to worry because they have everything under control and they have achieved cold shutdown. Never mind that pesky little leak or two and the Photoshopped image of #4, and please take our word for it that we are not killing the Pacific Ocean by continuously pouring waste to sea 24/7. Oh, and let’s pretend that the yellow cloud from the explosion at #2 was hydrogen, even though hydrogen burns white and the explosion was obviously plutonium. How sad that I know such a thing and the NRC doesn’t. We are facing the worst environmental disaster of humankind, a disaster that IS DESTROYING THE PLANET every passing second and the NRC is pushing for MORE nuclear power plants! Do you guys have a death wish? Do you believe that Armageddon is around the corner, so what the hell, why not build more nuclear power planters because the world is going to end in some Daliesque radioactive landscape? How can you possibly keep a straight face while putting forth such useless garbage touting Obama’s “Open Government” (the biggest oxymoron in the world)? Has the NRC been open about the effects of radiation? Of course not. You guys compare the radiation from Fukushima to that of a banana or a plane ride. You ignore the contamination of the US food supply. Meanwhile in Japan, THE CORIUM HAS MELTED THROUGH THE CONTAINMENT VESSELS! There is nothing underneath. The reactors are on a major fault line. This is a freaking disaster!!! If I can figure this out, why can’t the NRC? It is what is referred to as “The China Syndrome” to the common folk. The fourth building is near collapse and when – not if – it does, it is “Adios!” to life on this planet. It’s already happening. The entire Northern Hemisphere has been contaminated by radiation and almost all of the food supply has been affected. There has been a huge spike in stillbirths, miscarriages and mutant babies in the Pacific Northwest and California. Seals are dying. Insects are dying. Plants are changing. The United States is doused in radiation and Radnet is…I am not sure where it is. Last I heard it was checking quarterly instead of daily. We do not know what the true levels of radiation are because this government isn’t an open government, no matter what your PR rep wrote.

I do not now what the solution is, but I know that nuclear energy is not part of the equation. Your new platform must rebrand the agency as the Nuclear Decommissioning Agency – and do it soon before the US and Japanese economies and governments collapse, because then there is no one left to fund the decommissioning of these reactors. And god forbid solar activity takes out part of the grid and these plants do not have enough energy to maintain hot and/or cold shutdown. But you guys probably have a plan for this, some super secret plan that does not fall within the parameter’s of Obama’s “Open Government,” right?

If the agency, employees and the PR shills who work for them collectively believe that nuclear power is safe and Fukushima radiation is just bananas, then I propose you put your money where your mouth is and have a little field trip to Fukushima – without radiation gear or even Geiger counter (because nuclear energy is SAFE!) – and eat everything grown in the Fukushima prefecture. You can put it live on YouTube for all to see! Or you could even do Pay-per-view – I think that it would be a revenue maker for the federal government! I would pay to watch every GS-13 and up (if they are still called that) and every manager have a picnic outside of Fukushima Daichi (but don’t sit too close to #4 in case it collapses). Until you are willing to expose yourself to Fukushima (not that you haven’t been for a year and a half), I think you need to adopt a new platform that better serves Americans and dismantles all nuclear facilities.

I know that signing my name to this will likely put me on some sort of enemy list, if I am not already on one. So be it. At least the person in charge of my dossier will be forced to confront the reality of the situation and to realize just who it is they are serving when they collect their paychecks. At least I cannot be accused of committing a crime against humanity.

Fukushima: Hanging by a Thread

By Dr. Mark Sircus

 April 27, 2012

After writing my essay Radioactive Hell on Earth”—actually I wanted to change that title to “Fukushima on Steroids”—I see Christina Consolo’s essay Fukushima is Falling Apart”: Are you ready—it is becoming clear that we, our children and our entire civilization is hanging by a thread. It is a very sorry thing to report that we have literally shot ourselves in the foot with a big nuclear shotgun full of radioactive particles of the worst conceivable kind.

It has taken a year but finally “a U.S. Senator finally got off his ass and went to Japan to see what is going on over there. What he saw was horrific. Reactor No. 4 building is on the verge of collapsing.

Seismicity standards rate the building at a zero, meaning even a small earthquake could send it into a heap of rubble. And sitting at the top of the building, in a pool that is cracked, leaking, and precarious even without an earthquake, are 1,565 fuel rods.”

If an earthquake or other event were to cause this pool to drain, this could result in a catastrophic radiological fire that could wipe out most of the northern hemisphere; certainly it would be a massive civilization-breaking event.

After an onsite tour of what remains of the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear facilities, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), a senior member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, sent a letter to Japanese Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki saying, “The scope of damage to the plants and to the surrounding area was far beyond what I expected.

The precarious status of the Fukushima Dai-Ichi nuclear units and the risk presented by the enormous inventory of radioactive materials and spent fuel in the event of further earthquake threats should be of concern to all and a focus of greater international support and assistance.”

1,565 fuel rods translates into 460 tons of nuclear fuel stored in pool in a barely intact building on its third and fourth floors. If the storage pool breaks and runs dry, the nuclear fuel inside will overheat and explode.

The worst-case scenario drawn up by the government includes not only the collapse of the No. 4 reactor pool, but also the disintegration of spent-fuel rods from all the plant’s other reactors.

The wall of the south side is falling apart at reactor No. 4 and Dr. Helen Caldicott said she would evacuate her family from Boston if it did.

Consolo says, “If this pool collapses, as Senator Wyden is now saying too, we would face a mass extinction event from the release of radiation in those rods. This may be the most important thing you ever pay attention to for the sake of your family, friends, your neighbors, every one you know and meet, all of humanity.”

“Preliminary reports of soil contamination are starting to come in from the USGS, who has seemed reluctant to share this information. Los Angeles, California, Portland, Oregon and Boulder, Colorado so far have the highest radioactive particle contamination out of the entire U.S.

Iodine, cesium, strontium, plutonium, uranium, and a host of other fission products have been coming directly from Japan to the west coast for thirteen months. Reports in the past week indicate the pollen in southern California is radioactive now too, and it is flying around, and if you live there and go outside, you are breathing it in. And so are your children,” continued Consolo.

Spent reactor fuel cannot be simply lifted into the air by a crane as if it were routine cargo. In order to prevent severe radiation exposures, fires and possible explosions, it must be transferred at all times in water and heavily shielded structures into dry casks.

As this has never been done before, the removal of the spent fuel from the pools at the damaged Fukushima-Dai-Ichi reactors will require a major and time-consuming reconstruction effort and will involve charting in unknown waters.

Reports indicate that things are so hopeless at the plant that workers are not even working on weekends and certainly governments around the world have not gotten together in a desperate Manhattan Project[1] (in reverse) to save humanity.

Arnold Gundersen, a former nuclear power industry executive, is claiming that the Fukushima nuclear disaster is already 10 times worse than the 1986 Chernobyl meltdown in the former Soviet Union.

If that is true it’s already taps for a whole lot of men, women and children in the northern hemisphere with the absolute promise that the radiation will continue relentlessly through the coming years. It is sounding like nuclear hell coming to earth to teach us something about our arrogance, massive stupidity and pathetic weakness.

While our government would love us all to believe that the nuclear problems in Japan are under control, nothing could be farther from the truth. Engineers for Tokyo Electric Power Co. (Tepco) say readings of airborne radiation inside reactor No. 2 showed almost 73 sieverts per hour this week.

To put that into perspective, exposure to that amount of radiation would kill a normal person within minutes. These levels are some of the highest readings since the beginning of the disaster and there is no one telling us that this nuclear contamination will lessen.

MOX Plutonium Fuel

The mixed oxide fuel (MOX) reactor[2], which burns with plutonium/uranium, is more deadly than those burning on uranium-enriched fuel, according to nuclear experts. The half-life of plutonium-239 in MOX is 24,000 years and just a few milligrams of P-239 escaping in a smoke plume will contaminate soil for tens of thousands of years.

A single milligram (mg) of MOX is as deadly as 2,000,000 mg of normal enriched uranium meaning that one mg of MOX is basically two million times more powerful than one mg of uranium.

If even a small amount of this potent substance escapes from the plant in a smoke plume, the particles will travel with the wind and contaminate soil for tens of thousands of years.

Ray Guilmette of the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements said that plutonium “is thousands of times more radioactive than uranium,” if absorbed into the body.

Donald Olander, professor emeritus of nuclear engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, said that because plutonium decays quickly, it produces radiation that can kill cells in the body more quickly. But the plutonium itself would pose a severe threat only if it was involved in a violent reaction that turned it into dust particles that could be inhaled. No one knows the exact number but plenty of the fuel rods at risk are MOX, thus containing deadly plutonium. If that blows up then we might end up wishing we had had a nuclear war instead.

Limited Nuclear Exchange

If you want to know what this means from mainstream sources, tune into what International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) and its U.S. affiliate, Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) are saying would happen from just a limited nuclear war—forget about a full-scale meltdown of thousands of dirty nuclear fuel rods.

More than a billion people around the world would face starvation following a limited regional nuclear weapons exchange (such as a clash between India and Pakistan) that would cause major worldwide climate disruption, driving down food production in China, the U.S. and other nations, according to a major new report released by Dr. Ira Helfand, the author of Nuclear Famine: A Billion People at Risk.

Helfand said, “The needless and preventable deaths of one billion people over a decade would be a disaster unprecedented in human history. It would not cause the extinction of the human race, but it would bring an end to modern civilization as we know it.”

The Dalai Lama summaries the situation saying, “We have degenerated into an insane society, unconsciously committing mass suicide by ecocide. Unrestrained corporate capitalism coercively and insidiously exploits vulnerable people and myopically plunders, depletes and corrupts finite planetary resources that sustain life.

Billions of people suffer needless poverty, starvation and avoidable disease, while obscenely privileged corporate, political and religious plutocrats greedily acquire power and excessive material wealth far beyond their conceivable needs.”

Special Note: These subjects are covered in my Nuclear Toxicity Syndrome book as well as the second edition of my Iodine book (both published in 2011), which dive deeply into the issue and threat of radioactive iodine.

Having lots of sulfur on hand as well as sodium bicarbonate, iodine, clay and magnesium is a good start for a radiation survival home pharmacy.
